Day 13

Day 13 - Shannon Kruschel (Cellar Door Manager)

This was my final day representing Two Hands wine. Above is Shannon Kruschel, the cellar door manager setting up our tasting table at The East End Wine Down .This was part of a dynamic celebration of South Australia’s unique food and wine culture, showcasing the best of Adelaide’s chefs, producers, winemakers, brewers, cider makers and spaces. Organised by one of the best Wine shops I have ever visited, East End Wines, this was a fun lively entertaining way to try wines.

Day 13 - Tasting Crowds

My Highlight of the day was being put on the spot by Shannon when he told a lady whom was tasting, that I was the proprietor of Two Hands! I was getting away with the jape until she then said that she knew my wife. The tapestry of my deceit unravelled on the spot. Michael joined us on the stand, although there was the small matter of a world cup final being played, so he left us to it. He was most proud that we were showcasing the most expensive range of wines on show. This spoke volumes to a tight Yorkshireman like me. Normally I would be worried about samples budgets, pouring sizes etc. Michael just wanted more people to aware of whom Two Hands are and why they make such fantastic wine.


Day 14

Day 14 - Dad, wine tasting

Alas my final day in Australia had arrived. My original plans had been to head over to McLaren Vale and see a couple of suppliers that we supply through Majestic. However with the enthusiasm my parents had heard me talk about Two Hands they wanted to see where the “magic happens”.  Above is my Dad on the veranda posing with a bottle of the Fait Accompli Rare Muscat NV. This rare non-vintage Muscat is aged for over 20 years in barrel, lovingly nurtured over this time this is a rich, smooth and definitively elegant fortified wine. Or as my dad put it – “it’s like eating sticky toffee pudding, with a spoon made of caramel, on bonfire night” Unfortunately my Mum drew the short straw and had to drive!

I would like to take the opportunity to thank everyone at Two hands; Michael, Phil, Ben, Jimmy, Pierre-Henri, Danyelle, Shannon, Mark, Caitlin, Fionna and all of the vintage staff for truly making this one of the most remarkable experiences of my adult life! At times I found it tough but really I have memories that will stay with me for the rest of my life.
